James Sun’s story is full of dreams and inspiration. Walk with him through his journey as a self-made millionaire at age 22, successful entrepreneur, national TV star, film producer, and a community activist. Young Success James started his first business venture at age 11 where he negotiated contracts with local window cleaning companies to market their services door-to-door. His pitch was simple, “Are you sick and tired of homeowners slamming their doors on you? Well, why don’t you contract sales to my company and we’ll take 25%?” He successfully hired his friends and made this into a profitable venture. At the ripe of age 13, he noticed poor parents were watching a lot television and wealthy parents were reading the Wall Street Journal. James placed in his state math competition during high school and received a near -perfect score on his math placement tests. During his high school graduation, he graduated #1 in his class, placed in the state math championship, and was voted as having the “sexiest body” by his fellow students. This rare combination has always defined James as a very unique individual. After graduating high school with a perfect 4.0 GPA, he started a technology investment company with $5000 at age 18 and became a multi-millionaire by age 22 while graduating (Cum Laude) from the University of Washington. Television Personality James is the first Asian male to land a spot on Donald Trump's hit reality show "The Apprentice." Asian-American men have a very difficult time landing a major role on prime time television in the United States, but James broke this barrier. He was selected out of 800,000 applicants based on his previous business success, dynamic personality, and ability to shine in front of the camera. The show aired for 14 weeks on primetime television, and James made it all the way through 14 weeks as a finalist in the competition. James was the first Asian finalist in the history of the show. After his stint on “The Apprentice”, James managed to land his own international television show where he gets to play the role of Donald Trump. This show was a co-collaboration between BBC (British Broadcasting Corp), Mediacorp, and CMMN, which aired worldwide in over 20 countries. James was chosen to play the part of a dynamic business guru who travels around the world - meeting ambitious entrepreneurs to give them tough lessons on how to grow their businesses using principles from “Sun Tzu’s Art of War”. Although James does not fire anyone, there is a strong resemblance to “The Apprentice” as a business reality format - inclusive of project challenges, high-pressured deadlines, open criticism, and the equivalent of the “Board Room”, which is referred to as “The War Room” in the new show. James takes a group of motivated entrepreneurs, and builds them into sharper and tougher business people while challenging them to grow their businesses. Due to his television experience and international look, he has endorsed several international campaigns and companies including Hyundai in South Korea. He played the male part in a national commercial with a famous South Korean actress named Ko So Young. He is also actively working on additional acting and modeling roles. Investor and Entrepreneur James is an active investor, entrepreneur, and managing partner of several companies including an international boutique investment bank, an online English tutoring venture in Korea, an Asian hedge fund, a Hollywood film fund, and a U.S. internet site called GeoPage.com. He started his career managing a family private fund between the ages of 18-22 while attending college at the University of Washington. He was able to build a very successful track record in those four years. After graduation, he took a position with Intel as a database programmer and then moved onto Deloitte Consulting as a consultant working with fortune 500 companies. He wanted to experience and learn the corporate environment of larger companies. James realized during this time that his next passion was to become an entrepreneur. He became an active angel investor, structured technology acquisition deals, and helped start a few technology companies with friends. Community Activist James has a heart and vision to create social change. He is using his media platform and business influence to inspire change in his community. He has a great passion for kids, education, and community involvement. He currently sits on the Board of the United Way of King County with an annual budget of $100 Million, and he is a United Way community speaker where he helps raise awareness and money through corporate campaigns. James is an active Board Member with the King Country Scoutreach Program that supports Boy Scout opportunities for underprivileged inner-city kids. James also has a deep passion for diversity awareness stemming from his early childhood experiences.
